WP Coupons and Deals Plugin – Click To Copy Coupon
Table of Contents
I just released another WordPress plugin to the WordPress Plugin Repository. It’s WP Coupons and Deals plugin.
As the name suggests, the plugin can be used to show coupons and deals on your WordPress sites. What makes this plugin better is the functionality of click to copy coupons and it’s lightweight.
I was using another plugin on my sites where I promote coupon codes and deals. The problem was the plugin was not updated anymore by the developer and it depended on Flash for the click to copy functionality, which is a slow process and not a very secure one. On top of that, the plugin was loading four or five scripts on every page, even where it was not necessary.
I used the script and basic WordPress features to build the plugin.
Key Features of The Plugin
- Very lightweight, loads fast.
- Responsive and attractive shortcode.
- Insert shortcode directly from the post editor.
- Click to copy functionality.
- Update: Version 1.2 – Now you can show coupons and deals on widget areas using a widget.
- Update: Version 1.4 – Now you can show only coupon code instead of the full coupon with details.
- Easy to use settings.
- Coupon categories to categorize your coupons.
- Expiration system to show coupon expiration.
How The Coupons Look
Y0u can show coupon codes or deals on your site just using simple shortcodes.
Here are some examples for you. First one is a coupon code type and second on is a deal type.
How To Install The Plugin
You can install the plugin just how you install every other WordPress plugin.
Installing the plugin using the Zip file:
- Download the plugin.
- Go to Add New from Plugins Section. Click on Upload Plugin button on the top.
- Choose the zip file from your computer and click on Install Now.
- Activate it and you’re done.
Installing the plugin directly from WordPress:

- On the search bar type ‘WP Coupons and Deals’.
- You should see it on results. Click on Install and then activate. You’re done.
How To Use The Plugin
After you have installed the plugin, you can see Coupons menu item on your WordPress Dashboard. It comes with a little scissor icon.
If you hover on that menu item, you’ll see four items.
- Add New Coupon
- Coupon Categories
It shows the list of all coupons you have created. The list show other information like Coupon type, Coupon code, Description, Link, Categories, Shortcode and Expiration date.
Manage all your coupons from this screen. You can copy the coupon shortcode from here and paste it on your posts and pages.
Add New Coupon
This is where add new coupons. Here’s how it looks.
You can set various information about your code. This is the information you see on the coupons list. Also, shortcode will use this information for the output.
You can choose to Hide or show expiration. If you choose to show the expiration, you can select a date when the coupon expires.
Coupon categories help you to categorize your coupons. Here’s how you would add a new category.
From the coupons list, when you click on the Category it will show coupons on that category.
Settings page contain some basic settings you can set. Here’s how it looks.
You can use leave it as it is to use the default settings or you can set your own.
How To Show The Coupons On Posts And Pages
After you have created some coupons, it’s time to show them on posts and pages. Here’s how you can do it.
You can copy the shortcode from the coupons list and paste it on post and page editor.
But to make your task easier, I have added an “Add Coupon” button on editor, so you can insert the coupons directly from there.
When you click on the button, a window pops up and you can select the coupon you want to show.
From version 1.4 you can select the shortcode type.
One is full coupon with all details and another is only coupon code.
How can only coupon code be useful? Let’s say you create a table with some of your coupon codes. Now, instead of showing the full coupon you can just show the coupon code. That would be easier.
Click on ‘Insert Coupon Shortcode’ button. Your coupon shortcode will be inserted with the corresponding ID.
After you have inserted the shortcode, publish or update your posts, pages and you can see the coupon live.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about the plugin, don’t hesitate to share them with me. It would be great to hear from you.
If you liked the plugin or found it useful, don’t forget to do a review on the plugin repository.
